Israel: Yemen Is the Main Obstacle to Completing Normalization Projects

NYN | News

The Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom revealed in an extensive report yesterday that Yemen has become the biggest obstacle to finalizing normalization agreements between certain Arab regimes and the Israeli entity. The report affirmed that the so-called “Abraham Accords” have brought Israel significant strategic and economic gains, but what it called the “Yemeni obstacle” continues to hinder the achievement of broader objectives.

In a dedicated section titled “The Houthi Obstacle,” the newspaper noted that the Houthis (Ansar Allah) now control the Bab al-Mandab Strait, one of the world’s most vital maritime corridors, turning it into a powerful pressure card.

It pointed out that Sanaa’s naval operations have severely disrupted shipping activity related to Israel in the Red Sea, driving transportation and insurance costs to record highs — a situation that has caused the Israeli economy to suffer losses estimated in the hundreds of billions of dollars.

The report added that Washington is counting on the Yemeni operations to stop once the war on Gaza ends. However, Israeli concerns are growing over the possibility that Bab al-Mandab could become a permanent strategic tool in Sanaa’s hands even after the aggression ends.

The newspaper also acknowledged that the assassination of the Prime Minister of the Government of Change and Development in Sanaa, along with several of his top officials, failed to achieve its intended goals, as Yemeni missiles and drones continue to reach deep into occupied Palestine — a clear indication, the report says, of the collapse of Israeli deterrence.

The report concluded with a warning that Yemen will remain a strategic threat to Israeli projects in the region, calling on the United States to expand the scope of the war and to form a new coalition against Yemen to ensure the protection of Tel Aviv’s interests in the Red Sea.
