Italian Maritime Website: United States Under Close Scrutiny in the Red Sea
Warnings That Any Miscalculated Escalation Could Turn Global Shipping into a Dangerous Pressure Arena, With Shipping and Insurance Companies Paying the Price

The Italian maritime-focused website Bloeconomy has warned that the greatest challenge facing the United States in the Red Sea is not direct military escalation in itself, but rather the uncalculated repercussions that could quickly reverberate across the global shipping industry and international insurance companies.
Washington Under Maritime Radar
The website noted that the U.S. presence in vital maritime corridors at the heart of the Middle East is subject to close monitoring by groups it described as “well known for their military capabilities,” referring to active forces in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
Ansar Allah Capabilities Complicate U.S. Calculations
The report argued that the Houthis (Ansar Allah) have repeatedly demonstrated their ability to target vessels in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, stressing that the Yemeni group—while not “entirely under the radar”—occupies a particular position in U.S. strategic calculations, especially when considering any potential military action against Iran.
The Red Sea as a Global Pressure Point
The website quoted Martin Kelly, Head of Advisory at EOS Risk Group, as saying that “the implications from a maritime perspective are extremely serious,” explaining that the global maritime system represents a “sensitive pressure point” that can be easily exploited.
Kelly added that “the global maritime system enjoys relatively limited protection, making it highly vulnerable to this type of pressure,” noting that a small number of widely dispersed incidents—such as those seen in the Red Sea—can generate effects far beyond their immediate geographic scope.
