“Made in Turkey” Missile Falls in Gaza… Has the Other Face Been Exposed?

NYN | News

Positions between Sanaa and Ankara have diverged, with the former continuing its steadfast support for Palestine and the resistance against the Israeli entity, while the latter maintains anti-occupation statements, even as indirect military relations with Israel reveal implicit complicity in the aggression against Gaza.

The circulation of an image showing a Turkish-made missile used by the occupation in the bombing of Gaza sparked a massive wave of anger on social media.

The widely shared image showed the remains of a missile labeled “Made in Turkey – 2004,” which activists considered shocking evidence of the contradiction between Ankara’s official political stance and its indirect involvement in the aggression on Gaza through military relations with Tel Aviv.

Many commentators argued that Turkey, which raises the banner of supporting Palestinians and condemns what is happening in Gaza, is effectively participating in the aggression by supplying weapons to the occupation.
One user wrote: The occupation is killing us with a Turkish missile! Turkey, which talks about solidarity with us, is helping kill us with its weapons?
The image, published by the Gaza Now platform on “X,” became the center of controversy, revealing the deep contradiction in Turkey’s rhetoric towards Gaza, amid ongoing diplomatic and commercial relations with Israel, including military cooperation.
This development has brought renewed attention to what some described as “political hypocrisy” and raised questions about the seriousness of certain regimes’ declared positions on the Palestinian cause compared to what is happening behind the scenes.
It is worth noting that Turkey and Israel share a strong military relationship, spanning several decades of cooperation in various fields, including intelligence sharing and weapons development. Since the signing of the military cooperation agreement between the two countries in 1996, mutual assistance has increased, including Turkey supplying weapons and defense systems to Israel.
Despite Turkish political statements against the occupation, these military relations continue, raising questions about the sincerity of Turkey’s positions in supporting the Palestinian cause, especially in light of ongoing military cooperation with the Israeli entity.
