Mahra Tribes Warn of an Impending Disaster in Eastern Yemen

NYN | News

Concern has been rising among the tribal community in Al-Mahra Province due to recent developments in Hadhramaut, following threats issued by Abu Ali Al-Hadhrami, who is aligned with the UAE, against the province’s Tribal Alliance—an action that could ignite widespread strife and unpredictable chaos.

In a statement, the Mahra Sit-in Committee affirmed that threatening a deep-rooted and well-established tribe such as the Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance is not only an attack on Sheikh Amr bin Habrish, but also an attempt to target the entire social structure and national fabric. The committee said it represents an effort to push through a dangerous project that threatens civil peace and opens the door to conflict.

The statement indicated that this scheme comes within clear attempts by external parties seeking to exploit Hadhramaut’s wealth and strategic location, destabilize its security, and drag it into turmoil and confrontations whose victims will ultimately be the people of the province.

The statement also warned that any conflict in Hadhramaut will not remain confined within its borders, but will extend to the eastern provinces—chief among them Al-Mahra, which shares with Hadhramaut historical ties, strong tribal alliances, and a shared experience in rejecting external projects and violations of their right to security and stability.
