The city of Marib witnessed an armed robbery on Sunday that targeted one of the local money exchange companies.
According to local media outlets, the Saddam Express Exchange Company was attacked by an unidentified armed group wearing military uniforms and masks to conceal their faces. The assailants managed to seize approximately four million Saudi riyals.
Reports indicated that the gang members arrived in a small bus and carried weapons believed to be equipped with silencers. They forced the company’s employees to comply with their orders at gunpoint before fleeing to an unknown location.
The attackers not only stole the money but also confiscated the employees’ mobile phones to prevent them from contacting anyone or reporting the incident immediately.
The robbery caused panic and shock among residents, especially amid mounting accusations that elements affiliated with coalition-backed factions may have been involved in the operation, at a time when the salary crisis continues.
