The Hebrew newspaper The Jerusalem Post revealed in a report on Friday that Israeli concerns are growing over the rising capabilities of Yemenis in the regional conflict arena, confirming that settlers in Haifa and Western Galilee woke up on Wednesday morning to a new shock after the launch of a ballistic missile from Yemen — a clear reminder that Gaza is no longer the only front in the confrontation.
The newspaper pointed out that Yemenis, who were previously seen as a marginal party in the battle, have now become a central player with significant capabilities and a steadfast will to continue fighting.
In an attempt to rally Western governments to its side, the newspaper stated that Yemeni attacks are no longer directed solely against Israel, but are now also targeting Western interests, reflecting a dangerous strategic shift in the conflict equation.
The newspaper also noted that it has been a full year since the last American-flagged ship crossed the Red Sea, highlighting the growing security challenges facing Washington in the region — while overlooking the fact that America’s predicament stems from the White House’s insistence on protecting and supporting Israel’s crimes against the Palestinians in Gaza.
It described the situation in Yemen as an American dilemma similar to what Israel faces in Gaza, given the continuation of attacks and the declining effectiveness of airstrikes in deterring the Houthis (Ansar Allah), who are leading the fight.
The Jerusalem Post also quoted its sources as saying that the prospect of a ground intervention in Yemen would not be like in Syria, stressing that the Houthi group (Ansar Allah) cannot be compared to Assad’s army, describing them as a “hard power” in contrast to what it called the “hollow army” in Damascus.
