The downing of American aircraft continues in Yemen’s skies, reflecting the growing capabilities of Sanaa’s air defenses and their direct challenge to U.S. air superiority.
The military spokesperson for Sanaa forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, announced that air defenses successfully shot down a U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone while it was carrying out hostile missions over Al-Jawf province.
In a statement issued Wednesday morning, Saree said the drone was downed using a suitable, locally made missile. He noted that this is the third American drone shot down within ten days, and the eighteenth since the launch of what he described as the “Promised Conquest and Sacred Jihad” in support of Gaza.
Saree explained that this operation came in response to a series of American airstrikes targeting various areas in Yemen in recent hours, which resulted in casualties and injuries, as well as material damage to civilian property.
He confirmed that Sanaa forces will continue their operations in support of the Palestinian people in Gaza and remain committed to confronting any aggression against Yemen, emphasizing the full readiness of his forces to act decisively and responsibly against any threat to the country’s sovereignty, security, and stability.
He concluded by stating that operations will not cease until the aggression on Gaza ends and the siege is lifted, reiterating Sanaa’s commitment to supporting the free people of the nation in their struggle.
