Mysterious Renewal Operation in Eastern Yemen… Who Are the 500 Refugees Documented by the UN?

NYN | News

The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) has begun implementing a mobile registration mission in Al-Mahra Governorate, eastern Yemen, in cooperation with the Immigration, Passports, and Nationality Authority, to renew refugee certificates for refugees from the Horn of Africa.

In a statement issued today, the UNHCR said its field teams have so far reached around 500 refugees in the governorate, as part of efforts to ensure the continuity of services provided to them in areas distant from fixed registration centers.

The agency noted that renewing refugee certificates enables refugees to access essential services such as education and healthcare, while also facilitating their freedom of movement within Yemeni territory.
