New Emirati Movements on Socotra Island Threaten Regional Security

NYN | News

Consistent maritime information points to notable activity at the port of Socotra in recent hours, after an Emirati vessel was observed arriving early Saturday carrying nearly eighty containers that were unloaded immediately without undergoing any inspection.

According to port workers, the nature of the shipment has not yet been officially disclosed. However, staff members believe it may contain equipment or weapons being routed through Socotra before being transferred to African ports to support rebel factions in Sudan.

The sources added that the ship later departed the port with the same containers, without completing standard procedures, and that its paperwork is prepared only after it arrives in Abu Dhabi.

The sources also mentioned a similar incident about a month ago, when a vessel left the port at night without any official procedures, after which departure documents were arranged in exchange for payments made to port employees.
