New Fees Spark Debate: What Is the Cost of Renewing a National ID Card in Sana’a?

NYN | News

The Civil Status and Civil Registry Authority in the capital, Sana’a, announced on Monday a unified fee for renewing national ID cards.

The authority set the renewal fee at 3,500 Yemeni riyals only, explaining that the decision comes as part of efforts to simplify official procedures and ease the financial burden on citizens, aiming to facilitate the renewal process and ensure the service is accessible to all groups at affordable rates.

The authority confirmed that this step is part of a broader policy to develop civil registry services and improve administrative efficiency, noting that its offices across various governorates will begin implementing the new fee immediately.

These measures are expected to help reduce overcrowding and speed up the issuance of personal documents, especially amid the growing demand for ID renewals in recent months.
