On Sunday, Israeli warplanes launched a series of airstrikes on the coastal province of Hodeidah, located on the Red Sea in western Yemen.
According to the “Saba” news agency, affiliated with the Sana’a government, these airstrikes targeted oil storage tanks at the Ras Isa Port, as well as areas near the Hodeidah port. The agency reported that Israeli aircraft also struck the Al-Hali power station and the Ras Katib power station in the city of Hodeidah with multiple airstrikes.
The Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that dozens of Israeli planes participated in the attack on Hodeidah, targeting the port, the power stations, and oil storage facilities.
Additionally, Israeli Army Radio confirmed that the Israeli Air Force had bombed the Hodeidah port for the second time, stating that the strikes followed three ballistic missile attacks launched by the Houthis on Tel Aviv.
In a related report, the American news site Axios quoted Israeli officials as confirming that the strikes were coordinated with the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), a claim also confirmed by the Israeli website Walla, citing Israeli officials.
Social media platforms circulated videos showing fires, which activists claimed were the result of the Israeli airstrikes on the Hodeidah port.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health of the Sana’a government announced that 44 civilians were either killed or injured in the initial toll of the Israeli airstrikes. The statement detailed that four people were killed, and 40 others were wounded, most of whom are in critical condition.
The ministry condemned the Israeli aggression, stating that the targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure in Hodeidah constitutes a full-fledged war crime, adding it to Israel’s record of brutal massacres in occupied Palestine and Lebanon.
