In a stance reflecting international rejection of military interventions in Yemen, North Korea on Tuesday strongly condemned the U.S. strikes on the capital, Sanaa, and several other Yemeni regions, considering them a blatant violation of international law and Yemen’s sovereignty.
Pyongyang affirmed that these attacks, which indiscriminately targeted civilians and infrastructure, are unjustifiable under any circumstances. It stressed that any military escalation of this nature constitutes a breach of the United Nations Charter and poses a serious threat to international peace and security.
The Korean Central News Agency quoted North Korea’s ambassador to Yemen, who also serves as his country’s envoy to Egypt, as saying that the United States employed its air and naval power, including an aircraft carrier, to carry out the strikes, which resulted in the deaths of at least 53 people, including women and children.
The North Korean ambassador added that these military operations are part of Washington’s geopolitical ambitions, disregarding international laws and the rights of nations to self-determination. He reaffirmed his country’s absolute rejection of such actions, which undermine state sovereignty and threaten regional security.
This stance comes amid growing international calls for an end to U.S. military escalation and for respecting Yemen’s sovereignty and non-interference in its internal affairs, ensuring stability and protecting civilians from the devastation of war.
