Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif warned against the dangerous expansion of Israeli aggression, noting that the military operations targeting the Palestinian people have extended beyond the occupied territories to include other countries in the region, including Yemen and now Iran.
In a press statement today, Asif said: “What is happening is not merely aggression against the Palestinian people, but an expansion of a policy of dominance and violence that now encompasses lands beyond Palestine.”
“What we are witnessing now—the targeting of Iran—comes after the aggression reached Yemen. This is an unprecedented escalation that must be halted immediately,” he added.
The Pakistani defense minister called for an immediate and comprehensive end to Israeli aggression, warning that continued escalation “will drag the region into a spiral of conflicts that cannot be contained.”
He stressed: “If matters escalate further, Pakistan will not stand idle. We will respond if necessary. However, at this point, we do not see signs of a direct escalation that would warrant a response.”
The minister also emphasized that the United States, as the main backer of Israel, bears a central responsibility in de-escalating the situation.
“We urge Washington to abandon its role as a blind supporter of Israel and instead take active steps to halt the aggression,” he said.
In a notable warning, Asif stated that the conflicts ignited by Israel—with Western support—threaten to engulf the entire region. He expressed Pakistan’s concern about the “unrestrained nature of Israel’s nuclear arsenal.”
He pointed out that unlike many other nuclear powers, Israel does not adhere to any international frameworks governing nuclear armament. It is not a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) or any other monitoring agreements, making its possession of nuclear weapons a genuine global concern.
The Pakistani Defense Minister concluded his remarks by stressing that regional security requires serious international action to put an end to the policies of force and violation that threaten both regional and global peace.
