Omani political and diplomatic sources have revealed that the Sultanate of Oman has launched urgent diplomatic efforts, at the direct request of Saudi Arabia, to contain the recent escalation from Sana’a, amid growing threats of renewed military confrontations in Yemen.
Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Al-Araimi, President of the Omani Journalists Association, stated in an interview with Al-Mahriya TV this evening that Oman is making intensive efforts to end the war in Yemen and achieve peace, leveraging its balanced relations with all Yemeni and regional parties. He added that Oman enjoys broad trust and respect, enabling it to play the role of a neutral mediator at this critical stage.
Al-Araimi explained that Oman’s current efforts aim to bridge differences between Riyadh and Ansar Allah (the Houthis) in preparation for implementing the Comprehensive Peace Roadmap Agreement in Yemen. This agreement emerged from two years of direct and indirect negotiations held in Muscat, Riyadh, and Sana’a.
According to diplomatic sources cited by the channel, Saudi Arabia requested Oman’s intervention following rising tensions linked to potential military movements in Yemen, which could signal a return to armed confrontations if de-escalation efforts fail.
These developments come at a sensitive time, as the international community closely monitors the Yemeni file, amid hopes that Omani mediation will succeed in reviving the peace process.
