Regional developments indicate clear signs that Yemen is moving into a more prominent position within the Arab–Israeli conflict equation, according to Palestinian researcher Adel Shdeid, who believes the recent shifts in the Red Sea have transformed the nature of confrontation in an unprecedented way.
Shdeid noted that operations restricting maritime traffic heading to “Israel” through the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab have unsettled the Israeli security establishment, as the region has not witnessed a comparable development in more than seven decades.
He explained that this shift has pushed “Israel” to respond cautiously to the new reality, given the difficulty of assessing Yemen’s capabilities and identifying targets that could be effectively struck in retaliation.
According to the researcher, the airstrikes attributed to “Israel” inside Yemen have not produced tangible results and have not weakened Sana’a’s deterrence capabilities. Meanwhile, Benjamin Netanyahu has leveraged the rising Yemeni threat in his political discourse to prepare the public for a potential future escalation.
Shdeid concluded by stressing that Israel now views Yemen as a party capable of exerting direct influence on its national security, warning that the coming phase requires Sana’a to maintain the highest level of readiness in anticipation of any potential developments in the escalation trajectory.
