Sana’a government forces announced today, Sunday, the execution of two military operations targeting ships that allegedly violated the entry ban to the ports of occupied Palestine, indicating the reason behind the U.S. aircraft carrier “Eisenhower” leaving the Red Sea.
In a statement, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the spokesperson for Sana’a government forces, said that their forces targeted the ship “Transworld Navigator” for the second time in the Red Sea using a drone, adding that it was hit directly.
The statement mentioned that the missile forces of Sana’a carried out another operation targeting the ship “STOLT SEQUOIA” in the Indian Ocean with several cruise missiles.
Saree explained that the attacks on the two ships were due to their violation of the entry ban to the ports of occupied Palestine, renewing the warning to companies continuing to deal with the Israeli enemy that their ships will be targeted regardless of their destination.
The statement pointed out that the withdrawal of the U.S. aircraft carrier “Eisenhower” from the Red Sea came “thanks to God and as a result of the military operations carried out by the armed forces against it.”
The Pentagon had announced on Saturday that the “Eisenhower” had left the Red Sea, to be replaced by another aircraft carrier.
Since late last year, Sana’a government forces have started hitting Israeli targets in the occupied Palestinian territories and targeting Israeli ships and those associated with them in the Red and Arabian Seas before announcing the extension of their operations to parts of the Indian Ocean. Recently, they announced the beginning of the fourth phase of escalation against ships “up to the Mediterranean Sea” to support Palestinians in Gaza. They assert that their operations against “Israel” will continue, conditional on “ending the aggression and lifting the siege on Gaza” to halt their military operations “supporting Gaza.”
In response, the U.S. and Britain launched airstrikes on Yemen, prompting Sana’a government forces to announce that their operations would include targeting American and British commercial and military ships in response to what they termed the “American-British aggression.”
On February 19, 2024, the European Union announced the launch of a military operation named “Aspid” led by Italy in the Red Sea, while the United States announced the launch of an operation named “Guardian of Prosperity,” both aiming to counter the attacks carried out by Sana’a government forces against “Israel.”
