Sana’a has raised the level of readiness across various government bodies and institutions as part of precautionary measures in anticipation of any potential attack, amid escalating regional tensions and increasing Israeli threats to launch an offensive against Yemen.

According to the Saba News Agency, the Emergency Committee held a meeting chaired by Acting Prime Minister Mohammed Muftah to discuss mechanisms for strengthening overall preparedness and improving readiness to confront emergency situations. The meeting focused on enhancing coordination among relevant authorities, foremost among them the Civil Defense Authority, as the entity responsible for rescue operations and minimizing human and material losses during exceptional circumstances.

The committee approved a package of measures to support the emergency sector, ensuring a more effective and rapid response in the coming phase.

Precautionary Dimensions Amid Regional Tensions

Observers believe that raising the level of readiness carries clear precautionary dimensions in light of the ongoing tension between Washington and Tehran, and growing concerns about Yemen’s potential involvement in any confrontation stemming from American–Israeli escalation against Iran.

These developments coincide with the publication by the Sana’a-affiliated “Modern Naval Force” account on the X platform of video footage showing an attempt to target a military helicopter using a shoulder-fired air defense system, indicating the development of Sana’a forces’ defensive capabilities, particularly in the field of short-range air defense.

Military analysts assert that the introduction of new air defense systems into service could narrow the strategic gap with adversaries and compel hostile forces to reconsider their tactics, especially with regard to low-altitude flight operations typically used for close air support of ground troops.

Field Maneuvers and Preparations for a Potential Round

In recent weeks, Sana’a forces have intensified their training activities and carried out ground maneuvers in the governorates of Ibb, Al-Hudaydah, and Sana’a. The exercises simulated surveillance, reconnaissance, and assaults on hypothetical positions described as American and Israeli, using medium and light weapons with live ammunition.

Despite the commitment of the Ansar Allah movement to the ceasefire agreement and the suspension of missile support operations for Gaza, it has not declared an end to confrontation with Israel. The movement has used the de-escalation period, which came into effect last October, to reorganize its ranks and strengthen its military capabilities.

Long-Range Missiles and the Return of the “Unity of Fronts”?

Military sources in Sana’a have not ruled out the deployment of long-range ballistic missiles and new models of drones in the event of a new confrontation, noting that upcoming tactics may differ from previous ones, with a focus on weapons possessing greater maneuverability and higher targeting accuracy.

The sources also suggested the possible revival of the “Unity of Fronts” concept if Iran were subjected to a joint American–Israeli attack, implying the involvement of multiple regional parties in any forthcoming escalation under new field and political equations.
