Amid the recent escalation in Hadramout governorate in eastern Yemen, the region is witnessing rising tensions between factions backed by Saudi Arabia and the UAE, following the Hadramout Alliance’s takeover of the strategic PetroMasila company.
Local sources reported that this development angered the rival faction supported by the UAE, leading to intermittent clashes between tribal units allied with each side, as military mobilization and the deployment of reinforcements spread across several areas of the governorate.
In a move to strengthen its position, Saudi aircraft landed at Seiyun Airport in recent hours to transport military support and tribal units loyal to Riyadh, accompanied by directives to raise the level of readiness in anticipation of any potential confrontation with UAE-aligned forces.

Local media sources indicated that Riyadh is seeking to prevent the situation from escalating to the point of requiring direct military intervention—whether by Saudi Arabia or the UAE—while the Hadramout Alliance continues to cement its control over the vital PetroMasila company, as other factions attempt to secure a foothold in the area.
This escalation comes amid local fears that the governorate may turn into an open battleground that could threaten security and stability, with calls urging Hadramout’s tribes to avoid sliding into a full-scale confrontation.
