Secret Contacts Between Netanyahu and Arab Leaders Amid Escalation With Iran

Israeli media: Undeclared communication channels reopened outside official frameworks

Israeli media outlets revealed on Tuesday that the head of the occupation government, Benjamin Netanyahu, has held secret contacts with a number of Arab leaders amid rising regional tensions linked to the Iranian file and growing fears of reciprocal responses that could push the region toward a wider confrontation.

The Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation (Kan) and i24NEWS reported that these contacts have taken place in recent weeks, despite the chill and tension that have overshadowed Netanyahu’s relations with some Arab leaders since the events of October 7. They noted that rapid developments have prompted the concerned parties to reopen direct lines of communication away from public and official frameworks.

Security Coordination and Exchange of Assessments

According to Israeli sources, the newly activated channel aims to coordinate positions and exchange security and political assessments regarding potential confrontation with Iran, as well as to discuss the implications of any large-scale military escalation on regional security and stability.

Regional Anxiety Over a Comprehensive Confrontation

The report pointed out that these contacts reflect the extent of “shared” concern among some regional actors about the situation sliding toward a comprehensive confrontation, at a time when the region is witnessing accelerated political and military movements on multiple fronts—amid the absence of any official announcement from the Arab states involved regarding the nature or substance of these communications.
