The UN Security Council’s Sanctions Committee on Yemen is set to hold a meeting on Friday, October 3, to review the final report issued by the Panel of International and Regional Experts, in preparation for officially submitting it to the Security Council before the current sanctions regime on Yemen expires on November 15.
The report is expected to be delivered to the Council no later than October 15, 2025. During the meeting, the 15-member committee will receive detailed briefings on the mechanisms for monitoring the implementation of the sanctions, including the UN Verification and Inspection Mechanism, in accordance with regulations adopted by the Security Council.
It is worth noting that at the end of last year, the Council adopted Resolution 2758, extending the sanctions regime imposed on Houthi leaders until November 2025. The mandate of the Sanctions Committee (2140) and its supporting panel was also extended until December of the same year.
