The management of Seiyun International Airport denied, today Thursday, the validity of circulating rumors claiming that the airport’s navigation and communication equipment had been subjected to looting or tampering, affirming that these allegations are completely unfounded and based on no reliable information.
The Director General of Seiyun International Airport, Ali Bakathir, confirmed in a statement reported by local media that all navigation equipment and communication systems are operating with high efficiency and are in excellent technical condition. He stressed that they have not suffered any damage or loss, and that the airport’s safety and air navigation systems are fully secured.
Technical maintenance to enhance air safety
Bakathir explained that the decision to close the airport was taken for purely technical reasons, related to carrying out maintenance and rehabilitation works on the runway and its adjacent areas, as part of a plan aimed at raising the level of air safety and ensuring the readiness of infrastructure in accordance with approved technical standards.
Official coordination and international aeronautical notice
He noted that the closure was carried out in full coordination with the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology, which issued an official aeronautical notice (NOTAM) explaining the reasons for and duration of the closure, in compliance with applicable international procedures, and to ensure that airlines and relevant stakeholders are informed with transparency and responsibility.
Call on the media to verify accuracy
The airport director affirmed that Seiyun Airport operates under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Transport and the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology, adheres fully to safety and security standards, and follows approved technical plans to complete the maintenance works within the scheduled timeframe.
Bakathir called on media outlets and social media users to exercise accuracy and credibility in sharing information and to rely on official sources, warning against being drawn into rumors that may cause unnecessary concern among citizens without any factual basis.
