Shock for Citizens: Bus Fare Jumps to 700 Riyals per Trip in a Yemeni Governorate!

NYN | News

The city of Aden witnessed a series of escalating crises on Saturday, the first day of Ramadan, as the authorities failed to contain them.
Following the electricity crisis, the collapse of the currency, the suspension of salary payments, and the rise in fuel prices, transportation and household gas have now joined the list of crises troubling the city’s residents.
Local media sources confirmed the collapse of the transportation sector, with an unprecedented increase in transport fees, as bus drivers raised the fare for a single trip to 700 riyals. This has made it impossible for many citizens to travel, especially with the ongoing salary crisis.
In a related development, the household gas crisis worsened, with reports indicating that most of Aden’s residents had to spend the first day of Ramadan in the streets searching for a gas cylinder, due to rising prices and the spread of the black market.
Despite gas prices reaching record levels, the past few hours saw an unprecedented jump in prices, exceeding 15,000 riyals, further increasing the suffering of the citizens.
Accusations have been exchanged between political parties regarding responsibility for the crisis, with the Southern Transitional Council renewing its official accusations against the Marib authorities for being behind the crisis for political reasons.
Aden is facing a state of collapse and chaos amid a clear failure to address the recurring crises that have plagued the city for years.
