The Canadian city of Vancouver witnessed on Friday a solidarity protest with Yemen and Gaza organized by a group of human rights activists and the Maoist Peace Organization under the slogan “Raise the Flag”, during which they raised the flags of Yemen and Palestine.
According to the Yemeni news agency “Saba”, which is affiliated with the Sanaa government, “the demonstrators carried banners calling for lifting the siege on Gaza and stopping the criminal attacks on Gaza,” and demanded “lifting the siege on Yemen and stopping the American criminal attacks on Yemen.”
The agency quoted Ms. Alyson Bodine of the Maoist Peace Organization as saying: “Today we came out in the city of Vancouver and most American and Canadian cities to stand on the highways to convey our message and demands to the Canadian and American people to stop the racist and indiscriminate war on Gaza and to stand with Yemen, which stands with Palestine sincerely and faithfully despite its suffering from the siege and war for more than eight years.”
She added: “Despite the conspiracy of America and Saudi Arabia against Yemen, where it suffers from the largest humanitarian disaster in the modern world, it did not hesitate to support its brothers in Gaza with courage and nobility in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea, and they turned back ships from going to occupied Palestine,” according to the agency.
She emphasized that “this courageous stance inspired millions of youth in Canada and America with this brave, strong, anti-imperialistic, and anti-American capitalist domination, standing firm against Zionist racism, changing the equation – the political equation in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea – and its historical stance that inspired us and ignited activity and enthusiasm in our hearts” according to the agency.
She said: “The protesters stood for long hours holding flags and banners to convey their message to the largest number of Canadian citizens on their way back home, and raised their voices with chants from the top of bridges… calling for the cessation of war and attacks on both Gaza and Yemen and lifting the siege on both countries.”
“Israel” continues its war on the Gaza Strip in parallel with a comprehensive blockade imposed on the Strip since last October, resulting in more than 30,000 civilian casualties and an unprecedented famine suffered by the people of the Strip.
Since November last year, the forces of the Sanaa government have begun military operations against “Israel”, and Israeli or affiliated ships have been prevented from crossing the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea, stipulating that they stop their operations, “the aggression on Gaza and lifting the siege,” according to military statements broadcast by the spokesman for the forces of the Sanaa government, Yahya Sari, following their implementation of any military operation.
The European Union announced on February 19, 2024, the launch of a military operation called “Aspides”, led by Italy in the Red Sea, while the United States announced the launch of an operation called “Guardian of Prosperity”, aimed at countering attacks by the forces of the Sanaa government against “Israel”, in addition to airstrikes carried out by America and Britain in Yemen, which prompted the forces of the Sanaa government to include American and British ships, whether commercial or military, in the targeting circle and prevent them from crossing the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea.
