The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning issued a warning on Tuesday to Yemeni citizens in governorates expected to receive rainfall, urging them to avoid being near or crossing flood channels during and after rain, and to be cautious of mudslides and rockfalls on mountain roads.

In its weather bulletin, the center stated that the next 24 hours could see varying intensities of thunderstorms, sometimes accompanied by hail, over parts of the governorates of Hajjah, Al-Mahwit, Amran, western Sana’a, Dhamar, Raymah, Ibb, Taiz, Al-Dhalea, and Al-Bayda, as well as highland areas in Lahj, Abyan, and Shabwa.

Scattered rain showers, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms, are also expected in parts of Sa’ada, Al-Jawf, Marib, Al-Hudaydah, Hadhramaut, Al-Mahrah, and the Tihama plain.

The center also warned that very strong winds could affect the area around the Socotra Archipelago, the Gulf of Aden, and the eastern and southern coasts, causing sea disturbances and high waves. Fishermen, sailors, and sea-goers were advised to take precautions due to potential maritime hazards.

According to data from meteorological stations, rainfall amounts recorded over the past 24 hours included: Ibb – 14 mm, Al-Mahwit – 6.6 mm, Raymah – 4.1 mm, Dhamar – 3.6 mm, Al-Hudaydah – 3.5 mm, Al-Bayda – 2.4 mm, and Shabwa – 2.3 mm, while several other governorates experienced scattered rainfall not recorded by monitoring stations.
