The local authorities in Taiz, loyal to the Arab Coalition, responded today to an initiative launched by the Taiz governor affiliated with the Sana’a government, Ahmed Al-Masaawi, agreeing to open the main road linking the city with the Al-Houban area (Al-Kamb – Al-Qasr roundabout) 24 hours a day throughout the month of Ramadan. This move aimed to ease citizens’ movement and reduce congestion during the holy month.
The approval came days after Al-Masaawi’s call to enhance services during Ramadan, as the strategic road, which connects the center of Taiz to the industrial area in Al-Houban, was previously operational only for a limited period (12 hours a day) since its reopening in June 2024.
Local sources described the decision as a response to the necessities of the current situation, especially with the increasing commercial and social activity during Ramadan. Meanwhile, activists praised the step, considering it a means of addressing disputes in favor of the citizens.
