Yemeni political analyst Ali Al-Nasi revealed that arrangements are underway between the American-British forces and the Second Military Region (loyal to the Arab Coalition) to hand over sensitive military sites around the 14th oil sector in the Al-Masila area on the Hadramout coast, including the deployment of foreign military units and a secret American base in the Al-Riyan area.
This move comes amid the complete absence of the internationally recognized Yemeni government, raising questions about the legitimacy of the foreign presence and its implications on regional stability.
According to Al-Nasi, the agreements include establishing a joint military base for the Western Coalition countries (the United States and Britain) in strategic areas overlooking the Yemeni coasts along the Arabian Sea, which is considered a key gateway for global oil trade.
He pointed out that the coordination is taking place under the umbrella of the “Arab Coalition” without the participation of the internationally recognized Aden government or its Ministry of Defense, thus weakening the legitimacy of the decision and deepening internal divisions.
Al-Nasi warned that establishing the base at this sensitive time could push competing global powers, such as Russia and China, to strengthen their alliances with the Sana’a government. He also noted that the government of President Al-Alimi could lose its political balance due to gaining “enemies” from regional and international powers opposed to Western encroachment.
