Taiz Holds Funeral for Director of Sanitation Fund and Plants 5,000 Trees in Her Memory

Taiz witnessed a solemn funeral procession and the planting of 5,000 trees in memory of the Director of the Sanitation Fund, who was killed in an armed attack.

This morning, the city of Taiz held a dignified funeral for Iftihan Al-Mashhri, the Director of the Sanitation Fund, who was assassinated by gunmen on September 18 in the city center.

Thousands of citizens participated in the procession, accompanying the body to her hometown in Al-Ma’afer District, south of the governorate, amid widespread grief and outrage.

As a symbolic gesture, the mourners planted 5,000 trees to honor her memory and express their rejection of the crime.

Al-Mashhri was killed on the morning of Thursday, September 18, while inside her car near “Sanan Roundabout” in Taiz City. The incident prompted the authorities to launch a security operation to pursue the perpetrators, which ended with the death of the primary suspect.
