The Tax and Customs Authority in Sana’a has categorically denied any connection to the newly established weighbridge in Damt District or to the existing weighbridge in the city of Dhamar, affirming that these weighbridges are not legally, administratively, or operationally affiliated with the Authority and are not considered part of approved customs procedures.
Outside Customs Jurisdiction
In a clarifying statement, the Authority explained that it had followed what was circulated on some social media platforms, describing the information as incorrect and misleading, and noting attempts to link the operation of these weighbridges to customs procedures. It stressed that all commercial weighbridges operating outside the customs zone are not subject to its authority, and that it bears no responsibility for their operation or any consequences arising from them.
Rejection of Dragging a Sovereign Institution’s Name into the Issue
The Authority emphasized that invoking its name or holding it accountable for practices outside its jurisdiction constitutes misleading public opinion and a deliberate distortion of a sovereign institution that carries out its duties in accordance with the law.

The Tax and Customs Authority called on media outlets and social media users to verify accuracy and rely on official sources when sharing information, warning against being drawn into rumors that contribute to confusing public opinion.

The Authority announced that it reserves its full legal right to take the necessary measures against anyone who deliberately spreads false information, harms the Authority, or obstructs the performance of its duties.
