The car market in Israel was affected after Turkey announced the suspension of its trade dealings.
NYN | Reports and analyses:
Some car import companies in Israel acknowledged that the local market was affected due to Turkey’s decision to suspend trade between the two countries, according to Israel’s Channel 12.
According to the channel, Union Motors, the importer of Japanese Toyota cars, informed its customers that “the trade restrictions between Israel and Turkey are expected to have a direct and immediate impact on the supply of many Toyota models exported from Turkey to Israel, including the Toyota Corolla and CHR.”
The Israeli channel pointed out that these two Toyota models specifically had high demand within the occupied territories, especially from rental companies, which will cause a problem for the local market in the near future.
The channel also reported that the company importing Hyundai models from Turkey decided to suspend future orders for some of these cars.
The company justified its decision by stating, “In recent days, there has been a great deal of uncertainty about imports from Turkey, and due to uncertainty about future supplies, as a precautionary measure, it has been decided at this stage to suspend orders for I10, I20, and Bayon models, and we are working with the manufacturer to find solutions for delivery.”
The Israeli channel stated that the automotive industry in Israel is expected to be affected overall due to delays in supplying car parts manufactured in Turkey. Additionally, further delays are expected in the supply of buses, heavy trucks, and trailers.
Earlier, the Turkish Ministry of Trade announced the suspension of all its trade dealings with Israel due to the continued Israeli army’s war on Gaza, confirming that it will not reverse its decision until humanitarian aid is allowed to enter Gaza without restrictions, which Israel has refused to do so far.
