The head of the Political Council in Sanaa – the de facto authority – Mahdi Al-Mashat, called on the Saudi-led coalition to “immediately begin preparing a supportive atmosphere for building trust between the two sides”, affirming the sincere desire to make peace with the surrounding countries and with the parties within.
In a speech on the occasion of the anniversary of Yemeni unity, Al-Mashat said: “We affirm the sincere desire to make peace, good neighborliness, and restore brotherhood with our surroundings and with the parties within, and we should not allow our political differences, no matter how great, to negate our Yemeni unifying identity.”
He added: “I call on the leadership of the coalition to complete what we have started with it and to engage seriously in signing and implementing the roadmap,” calling on the coalition leadership to “immediately begin preparing a supportive atmosphere for building trust on the humanitarian and economic levels.”
He continued: “I call on the coalition to move forward on the path of peace, to completely defuse crises and conflicts, and to work together to make the entire region safe, stable and prosperous.”
In his speech, Al-Mashat said: “We advise caution against America, Israel and Britain and their destructive and destructive efforts against the peoples and countries of our nation.”
He also extended an invitation to the international community and the United Nations to play a positive role in enhancing and encouraging “the good intentions and orientations of Sanaa.”
