Hebrew media outlets have warned of what they described as a “horror scenario” for which the Israeli army is preparing, amid intelligence assessments pointing to an unprecedented threat that could emerge from the eastern front.
Intelligence Warnings of a Possible Ground Invasion
The newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth confirmed that military and intelligence circles in the occupation entity are preparing to confront a dangerous scenario involving an attempt by thousands of fighters from the so-called “Axis of Resistance” to infiltrate occupied territories via Jordan.
Yemeni and Palestinian Fighters at the Heart of the Fears
The newspaper indicated that the hypothetical scenario includes combat groups made up of Palestinians residing in Jordan alongside Yemeni fighters, noting Israeli fears that such an attack could be broader and more violent than the October 7 operation, given what it described as the high level of combat experience of the Yemeni fighters.
Reactivating Surveillance Posts Abandoned for Decades
Yedioth Ahronoth revealed that, for the first time since the 1970s, the Israeli army has reactivated old surveillance sites along the water border with Jordan, as part of a plan to establish an expanded defensive system aimed at preventing any infiltration or potential invasion from the east.
Military Drills Simulating a “Houthi” Infiltration
For its part, the Hebrew website Walla reported that the occupation army has begun conducting a military exercise simulating a scenario in which Yemeni elements infiltrate from Syria into Jordan and then advance toward the interior of the occupied territories.
The website quoted sources within the Israeli security establishment as saying that there is a growing sense of threat regarding the possibility of coordinated ground infiltration operations, considering this risk to have become part of current security assessments.
