The Vice President of the Yemeni Parliament, affiliated with the internationally recognized government, Abdulaziz Jabari, revealed what he described as a “dangerous plan” being orchestrated by the Saudi-Emirati coalition with Western support, aimed at dividing Yemen into warring entities. The plan turns the north into an unending battlefield while granting the south a “false peace” under regional domination, creating a scenario that entrenches fragmentation and buries the country’s unity.
In an interview with BBC Radio, Jabari confirmed that the coalition countries, led by Saudi Arabia and the UAE, have tried to mitigate the consequences of their military and political failure in Yemen through “programs for dividing the country,” which aim to create two conflicting realities: a north trapped in war and chaos, and a south polished by empty promises of development. He noted that this plan began with the coalition’s military intervention in 2015 and reached its peak with the complete control over the internationally recognized government, which has turned into a tool to implement the division agenda.
He added that the plan involves forming a “functional government” in Aden to legitimize Saudi-Emirati hegemony, marginalize popular demands for unity and independence, and exacerbate service crises (like electricity) in the southern and eastern provinces, pushing them toward adopting separatist rhetoric. The plan also involves empowering figures like Aidarus Al-Zubaidi to turn the south into a military and media base against the north.
Jabari warned that if the plan continues, the south will become a “regional colony” managed by Abu Dhabi and Riyadh, while the north is left to endure wars fueled by Gulf oil money. He emphasized that the only solution is to end foreign intervention and allow Yemenis to govern themselves without external tutelage.
