The Mystery of Accelerating Visits… Is Yemen Preparing for a New Phase?

NYN | News

A wide-ranging UN diplomatic push on the Yemeni file has once again taken center stage regionally, amid growing warnings about the dangerous repercussions of Israeli violations in the region.

In Muscat, UN Special Envoy to Yemen Hans Grundberg met on Monday with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to discuss the latest developments in Yemen and efforts to revive the peace process, which has been stalled for months.

According to a statement by the Iranian Foreign Ministry on the “X” platform, Grundberg provided a comprehensive briefing on the political and humanitarian situation, emphasizing the importance of continued Iranian support for the UN’s role in easing the crisis and steering the political process toward a more stable path.

Araghchi expressed his condemnation of what he described as “Israeli aggression against countries in the region,” warning that the continuation of attacks and the blockade imposed on Yemen aggravate tensions and undermine regional security.

He affirmed that these practices constitute a clear violation of international law and have repercussions that extend to the stability of the entire region.

Grundberg continues his diplomatic activity in regional capitals. Two days earlier, he met with Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi, and before that visited the UAE and Saudi Arabia as part of efforts to restore momentum to the frozen peace process.
