The Sanaa government forces displayed, on Friday, footage they claimed was of the downing of an American unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of the “MQ-9” type in Marib Governorate.
The military media affiliated with the Sanaa forces on the “X” platform published footage of “the Yemeni air defenses downing the American MQ-9 drone while it was carrying out hostile acts in the airspace of Marib Governorate”.
The spokesperson for the Sanaa government forces, Yahya Sarea, in a statement published this morning on his account on “X”, referred to this as “the fourth plane that has been shot down during the battle of the Promised Conquest and the Holy Jihad in support of Gaza,” as he put it.
He said that “the targeting of the plane was done with a locally-made surface-to-air missile,” adding that “the armed forces confirm their full readiness at all levels on land, sea and air, and that all attempts by the enemy will fail, and the armed forces will be on the lookout for them, God willing.”
The Sanaa forces have been carrying out attacks in the Red Sea on Israeli ships or those heading to Israel “in support and support of the Palestinian people and Gaza” since last November.
They had also previously announced the start of the implementation of the fourth stage of escalation against the ships “until the Mediterranean Sea” in order to support the Palestinians in Gaza.
