Details have emerged about the murder of Wafaa Saddam Hamed Al-Basha (35 years old), whose killing shocked the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, on Thursday evening after she was assaulted near the Ministry of Information building in the Capital Secretariat.
The Capital Police announced that they had arrested all those involved in the crime following swift field operations immediately after receiving the report.
According to the police statement, the victim was inside her Kia Soul vehicle when Mohammed Jibran Sweid Al-Qaisi (20 years old) and Issam Mohammed Yahya Al-Aqeedah broke the car window and assaulted her, prompting several local residents to intervene.
The statement added that the second suspect forced the victim to sit in the back seat of the vehicle and took the wheel in an attempt to flee. At that moment, Abdulrahman Al-Suwaidi, a local resident, opened fire on the car, resulting in a gunshot wound that killed the victim instantly.
The report noted that Issam Al-Aqeedah stopped the vehicle after realizing the victim had died and then fled the scene. Security forces immediately began investigations and moved to the crime scene, later arresting all those involved in the incident.
The Capital Police confirmed that investigations are ongoing, pending the referral of the case to the competent judicial authorities.
