Sanaa issued a direct call to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Monday evening to revive the stalled prisoners’ file and engage in a comprehensive exchange process, amid a prolonged state of deadlock.
In a related development, Abdul Qader Al-Murtadha, head of the Prisoners’ Affairs Committee under the Sanaa government, congratulated the Palestinian people on what he described as a major achievement — the release of a number of prisoners from Israeli occupation prisons — calling it a humanitarian and national victory.
In a post on the platform “X,” Al-Murtadha expressed hope that the Saudi regime and what he referred to as “mercenaries” would stop obstructing and complicating the prisoners’ file in Yemen, emphasizing the need for positive engagement with this humanitarian issue.
Al-Murtadha stated: “We hope to see a breakthrough soon in this long-stalled file,” reiterating Sanaa’s readiness to enter into a comprehensive deal that would lead to the release of all prisoners from all parties.
The prisoners’ file in Yemen remains frozen, despite repeated calls to break the long-standing stalemate. Meanwhile, humanitarian demands are growing louder, urging progress on this sensitive issue to end the suffering of thousands of detainees and their families, and to open the door to a broader settlement that restores long-neglected human rights behind the bars of conflict.
