The Civil Status and Civil Registration Authority in Sana’a has launched a new portal enabling citizens to inquire about the status of their applications and personal ID cards through Yemen Mobile text messages—an initiative aimed at simplifying procedures and reducing overcrowding at service branches.
The authority announced on its Telegram channel that citizens can send the receipt number in an SMS to 5020, preceded by the code #1, to easily check the result of their application.
The authority had previously emphasized the need to visit Civil Status branches in the capital to complete transactions, noting that service mechanisms continue to be developed to save citizens’ time and effort.
It also reiterated that the national ID card becomes invalid 10 years after the date of issuance and cannot be used for any official or legal transaction.
The authority explained that citizens with expired ID cards must visit Civil Status branches to replace them, warning all public and private entities against accepting expired IDs.
