Warnings to Sana’a Residents Against Going Out at Night

NYN | News

Mountainous governorates in Yemen are experiencing unusually cold weather as a severe cold wave is expected to hit several areas in the coming hours, according to warnings issued by the National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning.

The center stated that the cold wave will mainly affect the governorates of Saada, Amran, Sana’a, Dhamar, Al-Bayda, western Al-Jawf, and southern Marib, where temperatures will drop to cold or very cold levels during the night and early morning hours. Lesser effects are expected in the highlands of Hadramawt, Shabwah, Al-Dhale, Lahj, Abyan, Ibb, Taiz, Raymah, and Al-Mahwit.

The report also mentioned the possibility of light to moderate rainfall over Ibb, Raymah, Al-Mahwit, Hajjah, and parts of the Socotra Archipelago, possibly accompanied by thunderstorms and reduced visibility due to cloud formation and low-pressure systems.

The center urged citizens—especially the elderly, children, and those working at night or early morning—to take precautions against the cold. It also advised farmers in the highlands to protect their crops from frost and travelers to mountainous areas to remain cautious of sudden weather changes.
