The United States has acknowledged, this evening, carrying out airstrikes on a residential neighborhood in the capital Sana’a, in a serious development reflecting a new escalation in the aggression against Yemen.
The New York Times reported that a U.S. official stated: “America has started carrying out military strikes against targets controlled by the Houthis in Yemen,” confirming that military operations have been underway in recent hours.
The newspaper indicated that the strikes, ordered by former U.S. President Donald Trump and continuing under the current administration, targeted radar sites, air defense systems, as well as missile systems and drones belonging to the Sana’a forces.
Meanwhile, the airstrikes targeted a densely populated residential area next to a civilian hospital providing daily services to the public, contradicting Washington’s claims that its strikes focus solely on military targets.
Local sources confirmed that the hospital sustained damage due to the intensity of the explosions, causing panic among patients and medical staff.
These attacks represent a flagrant violation of international laws, amidst a concerning lack of UN and international response to the targeting of civilian neighborhoods and citizens’ homes.
