A wave of public anger continues in the Lawdar District of Abyan Governorate, southern Yemen, as the area witnessed massive demonstrations today against UAE-backed factions — a scene that reflects growing public dissatisfaction with the performance of local authorities.
Protesters demanded the removal of District Director Jamal Al-Alalah and the Head of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) branch, Saleh Al-Sad, accusing them of involvement in corruption and embezzlement of public funds amid a continued deterioration of essential services in the district.
These popular movements come as part of a broader wave of rising anger in Abyan, fueled by worsening living conditions and declining public services — highlighting a deepening loss of trust in local official institutions.
