Yemen Under Fire Again… Casualties in a U.S. Airstrike

NYN | News

U.S. aircraft continue to target Yemenis in governorates under the control of the Presidential Leadership Council backed by the coalition, striking vehicles and various locations, raising concerns about the true scale of losses and their impact on civilians.

In the latest development, a drone—believed to be American—carried out an airstrike yesterday evening on a Toyota Shaspickup truck in a desert area of Al-Abr District in Hadramout governorate, eastern Yemen, completely incinerating the vehicle, according to local sources.

The sources stated that the incident resulted in casualties, without revealing their number or identities, amid the absence of any official statement from local authorities or military bodies.

This strike is part of a series of operations targeting leaders and sites affiliated with the organization in various areas of Yemen, carried out by U.S. drones based on a 2003 agreement between Washington and the Ali Saleh regime, which granted the United States the authority to conduct airstrikes and pursue Yemenis under the banner of “counterterrorism.”
