Yemen’s Stalled Peace… A Surprise Meeting Brings Attention Back to Muscat

Regional diplomacy is once again in motion in an attempt to revive the faltering peace process in Yemen, amid ongoing international efforts to find any opportunity to open a negotiation window between the warring parties.

On Sunday, the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, met with Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi to discuss developments related to efforts aimed at advancing the political process in Yemen.

The Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement published on the platform “X” that the meeting discussed the steps needed to support the Yemeni parties in engaging in serious negotiations that would lead to a sustainable political solution achieving security and stability for the Yemeni people.

In earlier statements, the Sultanate reaffirmed its continued work with regional and international partners to bring peace to Yemen in a way that preserves its unity and territorial integrity and puts an end to the ongoing suffering of its citizens.
