As Saudi Arabia prepares to implement new regulations starting in early November, the General Directorate of Port Health and Quarantine in Yemen’s internationally recognized government has issued an urgent advisory for travelers heading to the Kingdom, urging them not to carry any narcotic or psychotropic medications without obtaining prior electronic authorization.
In an official statement, the Directorate explained that the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has launched an online service for submitting clearance requests for restricted medications via the CDS platform. It emphasized that prior registration and approval on the platform are essential for allowing the entry of medications intended for personal use.
The statement also stressed that carrying commercial quantities of such medications is strictly prohibited, and advised travelers to wait for electronic approval before traveling to avoid legal consequences.
The advisory added that travelers who face difficulties creating an account on the platform can seek assistance from transport companies or relatives and consult the user guide via the provided QR code. The move, it noted, is part of ongoing coordination with Saudi health authorities to ensure compliance with regulations.
The Directorate urged travelers to visit the restricted medications platform via the following link for more information:
