Fires Near Occupied Jerusalem Following Interception of Missile Launched from Yemen
NYN | News
Fires broke out in the Beit Shemesh area near the occupied city of Jerusalem on Monday, resulting from debris from interceptor missiles. According to Israel’s official broadcasting authority, the fires in western Jerusalem were caused by fragments of interceptor missiles launched by the Israeli military to intercept a missile incoming from Yemen.
The Israeli army issued a brief statement announcing that it had intercepted a missile launched from Yemen before it entered Israeli airspace. The statement mentioned that warning sirens were activated in Beit Shemesh and other areas surrounding Jerusalem to alert residents of potential danger.
In an earlier statement, the army indicated that it had detected a missile coming from the east, heading toward areas in the southern West Bank, leading to a heightened state of alert.
It is noteworthy that the Ansar Allah (Houthi) movement has continued, since November of last year, to carry out attacks using missiles and drones in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea. These attacks have primarily targeted commercial vessels believed to be connected to Israel or bound for its ports. According to the group, these operations are part of their support for the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The leader of Ansar Allah, Abdul Malik al-Houthi, recently stated that the incoming U.S. president, Donald Trump, should stop the war on Gaza and Lebanon if he is sincere in his promises. Al-Houthi affirmed in his weekly address on the war that the group will continue to support Palestinian resistance, no matter the cost.
