Riyadh Accuses Abu Dhabi of Orchestrating an Intelligence Plot to Entangle Saudi Arabia Regionally

Unprecedented Escalation in the Saudi–Emirati Dispute Amid Mutual Accusations of Covert Operations and Disinformation Campaigns

NYN | News

Saudi media sources have revealed what they described as a plot led by the Emirati intelligence services aimed at harming the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the latest chapter of the escalating conflict between Riyadh and Abu Dhabi, which has begun to openly spill over into several regional arenas, most notably Yemen.

Direct Accusations from a Journalist Close to Decision-Making Circles

Saudi journalist Salman Al-Ansar, known for his close ties to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, said that intelligence services in Abu Dhabi are working “around the clock” to carry out multiple covert operations designed to falsely implicate Saudi Arabia in acts of sabotage planned inside the UAE and executed through foreign agents.

In a post on the “X” platform, Al-Ansar explained that these operations were carefully crafted to pin the blame on the Kingdom, as part of what he described as systematic Emirati efforts to tarnish Saudi Arabia’s image both regionally and internationally.

Propaganda Campaigns and Media Disinformation in the West

Al-Ansar added that Abu Dhabi has instructed its media and public-relations lobbies in the United States and several Western countries to promote tailored narratives accusing Saudi Arabia of being behind these operations, with the aim of shaping Western public opinion to adopt accounts that serve the Emirati agenda in its open confrontation with Riyadh.

Yemen… The Spark of Renewed Tensions

According to observers, the Saudi–Emirati rift has moved beyond political disagreements into a phase described as “bone-breaking confrontation,” especially after disputes erupted openly in southern Yemen, where the two sides’ interests intersect and their regional projects collide.

An Open Conflict With No Horizon for De-Escalation

Analysts believe the flames of this conflict are unlikely to die down anytime soon, even if both sides manage to move past the outcomes of the latest round in Yemen. They warn that its repercussions are likely to expand to other regional files, given the absence of serious indications of containment or a reset in relations between Riyadh and Abu Dhabi.
