U.S. and Israeli Warnings: Israel’s Future at Stake and Possible Disappearance Within Two Decades
Officials and experts speak of an existential threat, internal erosion, and military exhaustion that could push the region toward dangerous scenarios

NYN | Reports and Analyses
American and Israeli officials and experts have warned of what they described as a “concerning” future for Israel, indicating that the country faces existential threats that could put its continued existence at risk over the next two decades amid escalating regional tensions and mounting internal crises.
U.S. Warning of an Existential Threat
Former U.S. State Department official Lawrence Wilkerson stated that Israel is facing an unprecedented existential challenge, noting in recorded remarks that the continuation of regional conflicts and growing pressures could lead to a scenario in which the state disappears within the next twenty years.
Israeli Assessment: A Sensitive and Dangerous Situation
For his part, former deputy head of the Israeli National Security Council Eran Etzion described the situation in Israel at the beginning of 2026 as “sensitive and dangerous.”
He explained that Israel is increasingly viewed within its regional environment as a permanent source of threat.
Etzion also pointed out that the domestic political landscape is experiencing deep confusion and division, with the political leadership facing sharp criticism, further exacerbating instability within state institutions.
Renewed Strategic Warnings
In a historical reflection, Etzion recalled earlier warnings by the late American strategic adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski, who once predicted that Israel could eventually resemble a “nuclear-armed fortress state surrounded by walls,” living in increasing international isolation similar to East Berlin during the Cold War.
Observers believe that elements of this scenario are beginning to appear, as military conflicts persist and political and diplomatic pressure on Tel Aviv continues to grow.
Concerns Over Air Defense Exhaustion
In the same context, American investor and entrepreneur David Sacks warned that Israel is currently facing what he described as “the harshest strikes in its history.”
He noted that prolonged military confrontations could lead to the depletion of Israel’s air defense systems.
Sacks explained that Israel’s reliance on fortified military infrastructure may no longer be sufficient in the face of long-range heavy ballistic missiles, potentially making the Israeli interior more vulnerable to attacks if the escalation continues.
Dangerous Scenarios
Sacks added that one of the most dangerous scenarios would be the possibility of the Israeli leadership resorting to nuclear weapons if it perceives a direct existential threat. He described such a move as a catastrophic option that could lead to devastating consequences for the region and the world.
A Battle for Survival
The assessments conclude that Israel is no longer engaged in current confrontations to achieve a decisive military victory, but rather to preserve its survival within a rapidly changing regional and international environment, amid rising military pressure and the depletion of defensive resources.
Analysts believe that if this dynamic continues, the region could move toward an even more dangerous phase, with the growing possibility of a political or military explosion at any moment.
