Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi revealed the existence of a new Chinese proposal consisting of four main points aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region, in a move reflecting the accelerating political efforts to reshape the regional landscape in the post-war phase.

In statements published on the platform “X,” Araghchi confirmed that Iran supports the Chinese approach aimed at establishing a “new regional order structure” based on balancing security and development, noting that Beijing is playing an increasingly significant role in advancing de-escalation efforts and political solutions in the region.

Although the Iranian minister did not disclose the details of the four points of the Chinese initiative, nor the nature of the countries expected to participate within this regional framework, the timing of the announcement was seen as an indication that the Chinese project has entered an advanced stage of political and diplomatic arrangements.

Preemptive Moves Ahead of Trump’s Visit

Araghchi’s remarks coincided with an unannounced visit he made to China, in what observers described as a preemptive move ahead of the anticipated visit of U.S. President Donald Trump to Beijing later this month. Trump is expected to meet with the Chinese president to discuss several sensitive issues, most notably the war against Iran and the rapidly evolving regional developments.

Tehran Bets on China’s Role

The Iranian foreign minister indicated that Tehran views China’s role with confidence, expressing hope that Beijing would continue its calm political efforts to promote stability and end conflicts through diplomatic means, away from military escalation.

Observers believe that the recent Iranian-Chinese moves reflect a growing trend toward building new regional balances amid the geopolitical transformations taking place in the region and the intensifying international competition for influence there.
