Bloomberg: Washington Seeks a Way Out of the Hormuz Crisis as Europe Demands a Ceasefire Before Intervention
Britain and France lead a new naval coalition to protect maritime navigation, while Tehran warns of a “decisive response” to any foreign escalation

NYN | Reports and Analyses
The American agency Bloomberg revealed new European moves led by United Kingdom and France to form a multinational naval force aimed at intervening in the Strait of Hormuz, amid escalating military tensions in the region and the failure of American efforts to impose a new reality by force.
According to informed sources cited by the agency, Washington has become increasingly reliant on the European initiative after its unilateral attempts to compel Iran to reopen the strait faltered, whether through military pressure or diplomatic efforts that failed to achieve any meaningful breakthrough.
Conditional European Military Moves
The sources stated that London has deployed the destroyer Dragon toward the region, while Paris has mobilized the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle as part of preliminary preparations to secure maritime navigation.
Despite these moves, European capitals stressed that any actual military participation would remain conditional on reaching a “sustainable ceasefire agreement,” with a clear refusal to engage in direct confrontation alongside the United States and the Israeli entity against Iran.
The reports explained that the proposed European role would be limited to clearing naval mines, escorting commercial vessels, and providing defensive air cover after military operations are de-escalated — a marked contrast to the American approach based on imposing control through military force.
Growing Transatlantic Disputes
In a related context, intelligence reports spoke of a widening rift across the Atlantic after U.S. President Donald Trumpthreatened to withdraw from NATO in protest against the refusal of some European countries to allow the use of their bases and airspace in operations against Iran.
These tensions have also pushed several European countries, including Germany and Spain, to call for accelerating the project of a “unified European army” independent of the American security umbrella, in order to avoid bearing the consequences of conflicts that, in their words, do not serve European interests.
Tehran Warns Against the Militarization of Hormuz
London and Paris are scheduled to host a meeting on Tuesday for the defense ministers of participating countries to discuss transforming political understandings into practical military plans.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Tasnim News Agency warned that deploying any foreign naval assets near the Strait of Hormuz under the pretext of “protecting navigation” would be considered direct escalation and militarization of the waterway, stressing that Tehran’s response would be “decisive and immediate.”
