The official spokesperson for the Southern Transitional Council (STC) forces, Mohammed Al-Naqeeb, denied the accuracy of reports circulated by Saudi media claiming that STC forces had withdrawn from the eastern governorates, stressing that such reports fall within the framework of “media rumors and falsehoods.”

In a strongly worded statement issued on Wednesday evening, Al-Naqeeb explained that STC forces remain firmly deployed in their positions across the valleys and desert areas of Hadramawt and Al-Mahrah, and that they are at the highest levels of readiness, preparedness, and combat alertness.

Field Readiness and Stable Deployment

The spokesperson noted that STC forces are closely monitoring and accurately tracking what he described as “hostile movements” by Saudi forces and their affiliates, emphasizing that these movements will not go unanswered and that forces on the ground are fully prepared to deal with any potential escalation.

A New Name for the Confrontations

Al-Naqeeb revealed that the name “Operation Promising Future” has been given to the new confrontations being waged by STC forces, signaling a new phase of field escalation against what he described as provocations and hostile movements in the eastern region.

Hadramawt and Al-Mahrah: An Open Arena of Conflict

According to observers, the STC’s insistence on maintaining its presence in Hadramawt and Al-Mahrah reflects continued Emirati support and what is known as a sustained “green light” for its military role there. This development raises the prospect of the eastern governorates turning into an open arena of confrontation between Saudi Arabia and the UAE, amid escalating tensions between the two sides over influence in southern and eastern Yemen.
