The Hebrew website Srugim highlighted the recent speech by the leader of Ansar Allah, Abdul-Malik Badreddin al-Houthi, describing its content as carrying a “direct and existential threat” to Israel amid escalating regional tensions.
The report noted that the speech came at a highly sensitive moment, asserting that Yemen is no longer content with a support role but is preparing — according to the analysis — for a stage of “direct and comprehensive confrontation,” reflecting a qualitative shift in both rhetoric and military orientation.
Fears of Expanding the Target Bank
According to the Hebrew outlet, Israeli security circles are viewing with concern what they described as Yemen’s readiness to expand the scope of military operations to include strategic and sensitive targets inside Israel.
The report quoted al-Houthi as saying that “the nation has no choice but to confront the Israeli enemy and strive to eliminate it,” arguing that the use of religious and nationalist dimensions in the speech is intended to mobilize popular and military energies for a long-term battle.
Yemen: From Supporting Front to Central Threat
The analysis suggested that the threat emanating from Yemen is no longer classified as a secondary front but has transformed — in the website’s words — into a “strategic nightmare” troubling Israel’s military leadership, particularly in light of what it described as the success of previous Yemeni attacks in penetrating certain air defense systems using long-range missiles and drones.
The report concluded that the continuation of this escalating trajectory places Israel before mounting security challenges on its southern front at a time when it is already facing complex and intertwined regional complications.
